"Thinking about death helps us mature"
Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Okay first of all, the blog title is taken from Bennett's tweet. Haha doubt he'll ever visit this site anyway!

So I've been wanting to do a gratitude post since my previous blog post but was kinda caught up w work and stuff.. The reason why I felt so inspired to do this post today is because of the recent spate of events happening around me which really got me thinking and reflecting on my life. So 2 friends lost their brothers within a span on 2 days. Although deaths occur on a daily basis, I think the reason why it struck me this hard is because this time we're all able to see the posts from friends to the respective boys, posts about the boys by their siblings(my friends) and it really breaks your heart when you see your friends talk about someone do dear to them, someone who will never be there again. Someone you used to share a roof with, someone whom you were the last person he talked to before they passed on.
All these things hit me really hard and I realize how we should never take things for granted/ how we should never take people for granted. How we should appreciate the things we have, the people who care for us, the people WE LOVE, but never bother to tell them how we feel.
